What a beautiful natural gem Sri Lanka is! We have just completed an incredible 10 day tour with Danu - Lion Lanka tours. I cannot recommend Danu enough. He gave us an unforgettable tour which far exceeded our expectations! He is a happy, friendly and solicitous driver and tour guide. Dani's car is immaculate and always provided a water bottle each day! Is driving is excellent and how he negotiated the towns we passed and traffic beats me! He always managed to find fantastic parking slots and knows his country so well, he has many friends and is loved by the people we met. We explored many unique places; nothing was too much trouble and he went out of his way to make our experience tailor made for our specific loves (Sri Lankan culture, wildlife, food, natural beauty spots). Fantastic Tour, thanks to Danu

Just returned from 12 days in Sri Lanka and what a fantastic time we had . Danuka from Lion Lanka Tours was our guid/driver and what an awesome job he did. From the minute he picked us up from the airport he felt like an old friend . We explored temples and tea plantations, safaris and monuments, mountains and beaches and enjoyed every minute even when it rained. We spent 7 days touring around the central and south of the island with Danu driving and guiding us every step. He is a great asset to Sri Lanka tourism and is so enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable . He explained the history and importance of all the places we visited and made it all interesting and fun. Fabulous tour around Sri Lanka

Danu was excellent - he couldn’t do enough to make our stay the best. Thanks also once again to Secret Escapes for a brilliant holiday. We saw elephants, hung out of trains, climbed rocks, saw temples, went to tea plantations, saw amazing views, went on safari and stayed in some amazing places. Throughout Danu drove us everywhere and found me coffee and took us to the kinda places I like to lunch (The Grand Hotel). He really looked after us. Couple of the hotel were a bit ropey tho mainly wonderful and sometimes Danu can be a tad rigid on the schedule and maybe could improvise around weather and early mornings but he is amazing and couldn’t recommend him enough. A fantastic travel company

We had a fantastic experience with Danu and Lion Lanka tours, recommended to us by a friend in Denmark. Even though we hadn’t given a lot of notice in advance (1-2 days), Lion Lanka accommodated for our request to arrange for a driver to take us from Colombo to Ella and from Ella to Mirissa. Not only that, but we were greeted at the airport with flower necklaces and a bright smile, and he helped us with getting a taxi from the airport to our hotel in Colombo. Danu was extremely attentive and was always helpful and communicative to ensure that we had a driver for the days when we needed one. The drivers were on time and very respectful, and the driving always felt safe. I would highly recommend Lion Lanka tours to anyone who is looking to set up an itinerary during their stay in Sri Lanka - my only wish is that we would have found out about it sooner and planned more activities! In the pictures, you will see the waterfall our driver helped us stop by on our way to Ella, and then a photo of the beach we reached after being driven to Mirissa. Thanks a lot Lion Lanka!

Memorable 7-Day Sri Lanka Visit

We had a 7-Day Journey with Dannuka and he made it a memorable one. He tried everything to counteract the Cyclone „Ditwah“ and still give us all the beauty of this country in the time we had available and were things were open. We really enjoyed that he was open for stops on our route and to show us things that are not part of any program to understand people and their life in Sri Lanka! Thank you very much for that! Our trip was well planned and safe even in this crazy traffic on this island (would not like to drive myself if I don’t have to). Our guide Danuka was excellent

We had an amazing 8-day tour of Sri Lanka for our honeymoon. Danuka our guide was excellent - friendly, knowledgeable, always punctual and got us safely to each location through some tough driving conditions. His car was air conditioned and comfortable. Danu’s good humour & flexibility made the trip stress-free. As well as some lovely personal/thoughtful touches throughout the trip to make things extra special. We saw so much interesting stuff in a short time - including temple of the tooth, boat trip on Negombo lagoon, elephant transit home, traditional cookery demonstration, local fish and fruit markets, tea factory, spice garden, and a train ride through the hills. The itinerary was varied and well-organised. It was an action-packed programme , but Danuka allowed us to choose which activities we wanted to do on certain days which was really helped. We were sad to say goodbye to him at the end of the trip!

Great guide

Sept 2025 • Couples Danuka was booked as our guide to Sri Lanka through our travel company, Voyage Privé. He met us at the airport and then was our driver for the next 5 days. We stayed in 4 different places and had lots of trips planned so there was a lot of travelling. Danu was always reliable, punctual, friendly and helpful. The car was comfortable and air conditioned. We had a last minute tuk tuk ride, an impromptu visit to a turtle hatchery and my favourite thing was seeing a family of elephants at Udawalawe National Park. Sri Lanka is an amazing country and we only saw a very small part of it. Thanks Danu for making our trip easier and more fun. Would definitely recommend him if you wish to book privately.

Unforgettable Sri Lanka Experience with our Guide Danuka!

First week in Sri Lanka with our guide Danuka... We have already been greeted nicely at the airport and have filled up very well. Our tour was well planned, there were great highlights every day and lots of Insider tips and information from Danuka! Danuka brought us much closer to the culture and the country. He has always taken into account our individual wishes and kept the day tours perfectly flexible. On the ‘wild’ streets of Sri Lanka he always took us safely to the next place! (A great motorist and parker ;)) We were able to ask so many questions and Danuka always tried to give us answers. We would recommend the tour to anyone! Danu: The Silent Assassin of Comedy

At first, Danu seemed quiet and serious—classic poker face. But then he’d say something from nowhere and absolutely destroy us with laughter. Once I tried to wash my hands in a lake and he said, " crocodiles don’t like white skin." He also told me, "When you talk too much, I know you're either tired or need to eat." He read me like a book As Danu’s all-time funniest guest I made a remix of "I Need a Dollar" while we're listening the song : 🎵 I need a Danu, Danu…Danu, that's what I need! To which he replied: 🎵 Danu's wife gonna kill you, kill you… that's what she will do! Iconic. That remix had us cracking up If you get Danu as your guide, prepare to laugh, learn( I didn't understand his accent but my sister understands so I think you will learn), and get roasted gently but effectively🤪

More than just a Tour Guide!

From the minute Danu collected us from the airport, we felt completely at ease. We spent 5 days with Danu touring in his car around Sri Lanka. He accompanied us on a Jeep Safari tour and ensured we got the very best views of the elephants. He climbed with us, at our pace, to the summit of Lion Rock. He explained to us the Story of The Temple of The Tooth and made sure we got the best out of a Tour around a Tea Plantation. Danu assisted us when we needed to find a pharmacy. He knew where to stop so that we could buy souvenirs. He always had plenty of bottled water in the car and would stop at places so we could try local fruits and treats. During our holiday, it was our Wedding Anniversary and Danu went out of his way to make us feel Special. Amazing trip!

I was in Sri Lanka for two weeks, it was amazing! This wonderful country offers breathtaking views, unspoilt nature, but also a lot of culture and good food! We were lucky enough to admire many species of animals, taste typical foods, walk among the tea plantations, taste fresh fruits of all kinds and much more!! All this was possible thanks to our guide Danu, kind, helpful and prepared. Day by day he gave us advice on what to visit, booking and organizing the various activities and allowing us to get deeper into the culture of this magnificent country. Fantastic tour!

Sept 2024 • Couples We spent just under two weeks in Sri Lanka - our first visit, possibly not the last! The tour was managed so that all we had to worry about was what to eat for dinner! The organisation and work to make sure everything went smoothly was absolutely first class. Sri Lanka isn't a large Island but transporting by road from one area to another is not straightforward. There are frequent traffic queues, poor roads and even occasional elephants - but a large number of dogs. Probably not the place to drive if you can avoid it. Enter Danuka. What a star! He has patience, good humour, excellent time-keeping not to mention driving skills. We have no hesitation in recommending Danuka and in the two weeks we became friendly and look forward to reading about his latest tours on Trip Advisor. Where do we begin. We made a last minute decision to book a driver for our time in Sri Lanka and I cannot even tell you how much it was the best decision we made for our holiday. Not only did we have a driver but Danuka was the ultimate tour guide and friend for our whole time in Sri Lanka! We travelled in the comfort of an incredibly comfortable and, most importantly, air conditioned, vehicle which made moving around the country so enjoyable. Danuka was amazing

I cannot recommend Danuka more highly. It’s very difficult to wade through all of the reviews and info you find online when visiting a country for the first time. We really lucked out when we found Danuka, he honestly made the trip so special for us. Not only did he offer all the things that you expect in terms of knowledge, reliability and honesty, he gave so much more. His suggestions for places to eat, and things to see and do were spot on. His kindness, personality and enthusiasm shone through. He liaised with hotels for us, climbed Lion Rock and little Adams Peak (at 4.30 am!) with us, insisted on stopping off at little roadside stalls in order to buy us fruits we had never tried before. We didn’t have to worry about a thing, and he made us feel very safe at all times - not that there’s anything to worry about in Sri Lanka! If at any point, Danuka stopped the car and started reversing, we knew he had spotted something we had missed, like a snake in a tree, or an unusual bird, or a shy monkey hiding in a tree. Danuka’s personality and pride for his beautiful country, were infectious, and we were privileged to be able to share our holiday with him.…

Highly recommend Danuka and his private tour service. He is more than happy to help and was always available for questions, he knows a lot about the best times to visit places for the top experience. He went above and beyond on so many occasions throughout our 14 day tour. He went out of his way to arrange a birthday cake and keep it a surprise as well as choose a venue. We weren’t sure what to expect as have never been on a holiday like this before but Danuka is very friendly and easy to get on well with and he joined us on a few evenings out.
